Even before approaching Biggers as a Black American and painting Black history, experience and African myth, I am arrested by the mere fact of him having been cis-het male. His interrelational matriarchal home-craft worldview can feel so perspicaciously, awingly "female."#Painting

Semi-nude of an Italian woman with a plate in her raised hand, 1906.The next year she became the first known female artist to paint herself nude and nude and pregnant, and just after the birth she died suddenly of its complications, at only 31yo.Also, her brother shot the Prussian king but didn't manage to kill him.What a painting!#Painting
