The sky is lighter today than yesterday, but dull gray-blue, no pink. We are in winter proper, "the dead of winter," as the old folks used to say in my world, all of them now themselves long at rest.

I left the title in German on purpose here. Weimar is a powerful term to us today, far past its importance in 1913. What words today will be the same later?
