@FediThing He did that already in his first term and people only grinned about it.

    @NatureMC @xtaldave

I think some people hoped that Trump's weird public style was just for the benefit of his voters.

If he's doing this same thing in private comms with heads of governments in situations that could potentially lead to war, that's squashing the hope people had about it being just for show. He's clearly just totally out of his depth and refuses to admit or care about this fact.

      He's completely lost the plot.

He's blaming the PM of Norway for him not getting the Nobel Prize (Nobel ≠ Norwegian govt).

He thinks that Norway has control over what Denmark does with Greenland.
      (Norway ≠ Denmark).

These are the deranged ramblings of a demented old man.

If there are any grown-ups left in America, now is the time to take back the wheel.

      Edit: Norwegian state broadcaster confirms

"I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace"

For those of us ( @EUCommission ) having trouble grasping the meaning of this:
It is a declaration of war from Trump on the #EU

@matv1 @xtaldave The EU Commission will have 0 say in this. It is a civil service executing the orders of #WTFisTheCouncil
Any decision on this matter will be taken by the Actual Executive of the EU, the European Council. I realise they're not on Mastodon, but there's no point @ ing the Commission.

@FediThing He did this always, very famously in interviews. The public didn't notice this so much because the texts were polished/edited.

Until some media outlets, such as The Guardian, published the full, uncorrected transcript. They showed the whole desaster! He can't have dementia for so long. 😉

The problem is now: He posts without proofreading. He no longer allows anyone to correct him.
And yes, he's a danger for the world, for peace, and future. But the rest of the gov, too!

@xtaldave Note that in this spasm of dementia Trump's reiteration of the notion that #Denmark has ownership of #Greenland because a boat landed there hundreds of years ago betrays his 19th century convictions that one nation can own another and that the people who live in Greenland have no right to determine their own future. #Trump

@xtaldave There are written documents, though. The U.S. agreed to let Denmark have Greenland in exchange for the U.S. Virgin Islands.

@xtaldave not to mention the Treaty of the Danish West Indies
                                  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_the_Danish_West_Indies

"During 1916, the two sides agreed to a sale price of $25,000,000, and the United States accepted a Danish demand for a declaration stating that they would "not object to the Danish Government extending their political and economic interests to the whole of Greenland".[12]"

So yes, there *are* written documents, which the US ratified.

@hyc @xtaldave Yeah, but who gives a crap about their signatures on documents these days... not the US.

Fair enough! 😁 I meant... not *enough* of the media are willing to show leaders as they are, possibly due to "access journalism".

There are good parts of the media too!

@matv1 @xtaldave On the fediverse, sure (though there are other 🇪🇺 institutions just as not involved in executive decisions over defence because it's not an 🇪🇺 competence), but your national government probably has a wide range of contact details.

@Veza85UE @xtaldave Sure we do. We also even supply the current secretary general of #nato (for which we appologize) Here at home, we call him #NevilleChamberlain .

@matv1 @xtaldave His job is what the French call "emploi fictif", so he's irrelevant anyway.
