@lokjo I like that you segment out chains to emphazie shopping local, but for general usability, can you show them with the same "category" icon as the local shop, just with the bland grey instead of the enticing orange?
I think wider uptake is likely if its clear what all your options are as a user.
If thats too far off your overall goal, what about a togglable option?

Here on Librewolf it displays.
Please note they are vector tiles, so you need to activate WebGL. (in the future we'll try to add an option for raster tiles again)
@lokjo it should test for WebGL and provide an error message if it is not available. Do shout up when it uses something other than WebGL as it sounds an interesting project.

@lokjo How do you define "corporation or chain"? It's mostly wrong for what I've seen around here.
Also, how exactly is a shop supposed be not some kind of corporation?
The filter activates when a certain brand has more then X amount of locations through countries.
Of course this is without the usual words like 'bakery', 'cinema' etc.

@lokjo I understand, but not all apps collect data or use trackers.
That's true of course, but the majority does.
Maybe in the future we'll look at an app. At the moment there's not benefit for it.

Yes, the toggle option is on the list to think about since a while.

@lokjo okay, thank you, that probably explains it. There's local chains and high concentrations that get lost when compared to the whole country.

Thanks for the feedback, does it work after all at not at all on these browsers?
@lokjo yes after some opening and closing of tabs. Not a huge problem for a technical person, but not easy for someone who does not understand browser permissions, maybe.
If you could detect the lack of permissions and show a warning, with a link to instructions on what to do, that may be helpful.

You're welcome. In a few months there will be a mayor update which will have a little function where you can push a little button to quickly notify of wrongly filtered or unfiltered chains/locations.

Lokjo has been around for 7 years as a website, so there is no version numbering, it's not an app, not a software. There will be a mayor update in a few months which we'll -probably- publish here when it goes online.

Nope, there is no robust service for that for us to use. But there is however an open service in the build from france

@lokjo there is already an in the Netherlands located an European owned nav system including maps called HERE WeGo https://wego.here.com/
Former used by Nokia and now by European car companies and yahoo.
I love it as it works flawlessly offline including public transport and time tables. -

@lokjo im definitely one to prefer an offline map that can be downloaded to my phone (i dont like the others and fucking hate magic earth after its recent update) but for when i have internet connectivity im really liking this, appreciate it, looking forward to whatever comes next
