At some point last evening, most of the lights off, I was coming up the stairs, and was meowing at the cat. The cat meowed back, and we were having "a conversation", as you do.

I became aware that the cat was in front of me, but the meowing was coming from further up the stairs.

That's when I realized the cat wasn't saying anything, but my wife and I were meowing at each other, each of us thinking the other was the cat.

Meanwhile, the cat was sitting between us, wondering what these two idiots were talking about.

@SnoopJ The real solution to the trolley problem is to understand that it's not a problem, in the sense that it's presented.

You are given two options, both of which suck. But *you* didn't set this situation up. This situation is *the system*, and you are being told you're responsible for the outcome. You are not. Since only your hand is close enough to the lever, you can make a difference, but the fact that the problem exists in the first place, and therefore any outcome, is the responsibility of The System, not you. The System tries to make you think it's about you, that it's your fault this is happening, that whoever dies, it's on you. It is not. Don't believe what The System is telling you. You may be forced to live within it, but its evil outcomes are not truly your responsibility. The right answer is that, whatever you choose to do with that lever, proceed to work to dismantle The System that put those people on the track and sent the trolley toward them in the first place.

@heidilifeldman Intentional misuse like this of *any* "less-lethal" weapon just vastly increases the likelihood of "less" not being enough and "lethal" being the end point. The person holding this can needs to be in front of a judge *tomorrow* on charges of reckless endangerment, abuse of authority, aggravated assault and attempted murder.

@FediTips No. But I blocked it (I mean, before unblocking and reblocking yesterday evening) months ago, and nothing changed.

I have no problem with this user or his posts; I usually agree with him. He's just the example of a boosted post that came to my feed yesterday that I think shouldn't have.

I'm on Tusky right now, so I can't see domain blocks, but it does show that I have bsky.brid.gy muted, so even if it were only that, I shouldn't see those posts, right?

@patricus So did I. I specifically went to check that last night. Went to block the domain, saw "Unblock domain" in the menu because I'd already done it. @FediTips

@FediTips No, I am absolutely certain the post I saw was a boost from that user's bridged account. I just can't find that accpunt now, perhaps their individual block is finally working, now that I unblocked and reblocked last night. But it should still come up in searches, right?

@FediTips It was sixteen hours ago, so I can't find the posts. But I remembered the name and went looking, and found the user whose posts had me thinking about this. I was about to paste it here when I saw it was a mastodon.online account. I'm certain the boosts I saw were from a bluesky-bridged account from the same user. Could that have something to do with it? Same post origin point also has a Masto account which is not blocked?

@FediTips I wonder why I'm still seeing them. I've triple-checked. Oh well.
