@FediTips FYI, that no Fediverse server type has algorithms is no longer true. #Loops by @dansup uses an algorithmic feed for its For You Page.

It’s an open-source algorithm, and you can disable it, but it’s still very much an algorithmic default feed.

@danirabbit Conversely, it’s incredibly easy to get swept up in the “I’m gonna do good!” thought and bite off more than you can chew. You see it with folks who get into privacy all the time; they actually MAKE the huge switches, get completely burnt, then go back to how they were feeling defeated.

Moderation isn’t just good advice those nervous to make big changes. It’s also a good mentality for those who want it all, but might forget that that doesn’t mean all at once.

@FediTips Do you know if there’s a way to apply filters to accounts from specific instances? For example, say Instance A uses a hashtag to talk about fun history facts, and Instance B uses the same one to discuss darker turns in our past. Both are valid ways to use the tag, but I might want to filter out Instance B’s use of it for mental health reasons. Is there a way to filter out posts with that tag, but only in profiles from that instance?

@dansup Will login redirect eventually be supported on PixelFed and Loops? I posted about it earlier this week, but when you try to like something on the Loops explore page for an instance, it prompts you to log in with your email and password, rather than first asking for your username+instance handle to direct you to where you already have an account, like Mastodon does. On PixelFed, interacting without an account is unavailable entirely!
