@lizzierose because this is an international network often segmented by vastly different time zones. posting something at 4pm in the pacific zone is equivalent to posting it past midnight in europe. europeans either won't see it, or it will get buried in their feed the next morning. boosting your own 6-12 hours later allows for a more even distribution across distant time zones.
