@alisynthesis @neverbeaten It's gotten to the point where I even showed my mom how to do it, because it's become borderline necessary for existing on the internet.

Dear every programmer working on websites and browsers:@alisynthesis @neverbeaten I've also gotten a lot of mileage out of just using uBlock to turn off all javascript except sites I've explicitly allowed it for. That takes care of a huge swath of these kinds of annoyances.

Dear every programmer working on websites and browsers:@neverbeaten Yeah. Granted I'm a weird nerd, but I actually do have every single login I use behind unique email addresses. I bought a lifetime subscription to Proton Pass a long time ago, and it integrates an email alias feature from SimpleLogin. So when I'm making a new account it just pops up a little alias generator right there. Very convenient.
SimpleLogin even lets you use your own domain name, so I'm not completely hosed if they go under or enshittify someday.

Dear every programmer working on websites and browsers:@neverbeaten @dplattsf Right? I'd accept three options, as long as one of them is "leave me alone forever"

Dear every programmer working on websites and browsers:@bolderbekah You're not wrong, but it ultimately takes two to tango. I feel like a lot of programmers just utterly divorce themselves from the consequences of their work. Honestly a lot of people in general do that, because unethical jobs often pay well.
Like I could probably double or triple my salary by getting a job at our local national labs or some defense contractor, but ... I like how working on my silly little university websites means the code I write will never kill anybody. That's like one of my number one job perks.

Dear every programmer working on websites and browsers:@oskard Or option
Use a browser plugin that hides the prompt, but now a bunch of stuff doesn't work because we all hold the functionally-necessary cookies hostage behind that stupid prompt. -
Dear every programmer working on websites and browsers:@dplattsf oh yeah. I almost forgot. I also do not want to tell you what I think, or rate you on the app store.
