I went to the Kumamoto Earthquake Museum today. One of the faults that ruptured in the 2016 earthquake went through the middle of the administration building of Tokai University, and they have preserved both. Luckily, the earthquake happened in the middle of the night so no one was there. #Earthquake #Japan

Hot take: good riddance.@vkc Recently I noticed that it has been disabled. It is frustrating that there is no setting for this behaviour because I always use it and it means I now have to do more clicks or a keyboard action to copy and paste in the terminal.

You et al investigate the Younger Dryas period both via proxy records and model simulations. You et al investigate the Younger Dryas period both via proxy records and model simulations. They find that two phases of freshwater input from ice sheets are necessary to explain the sustained period of weak AMOC. https://doi.org/10.1126/sciadv.adv6220
This paper by You et al uses the PaleoMIST topography reconstruction for the modelling. I'm hopeful to have a new version out this year!

Nothing brings up my frustration with modern search than what I went through today.Nothing brings up my frustration with modern search than what I went through today. I want a translation of "analogue" (as in "analogue for future climate") in Japanese. Doing a search with both "analogue" and "未来の気候" fails and machine translation brings up incorrect words.
I even had a (non-expert) Japanese person helping me. After 40 minutes, we found "類推" - analogy. I still am not sure if that is correct.
