This would allow restrictions on 'intellectual property' protections for US rights holders.
Listen to @pluralistic at #39C3 why the EU should make this policy a permanent rather than temporary move and abolish 'anti-circumvention' for good:

https://media.ccc.de/v/39c3-a-post-american-enshittification-resistant-internet@pneutig @pluralistic This is exactly the right response, and as Cory says, the revokation of the EU-US trade agreement should be permanent, or until it suits us to negotiate change. The 'Never' in never again must have meaning.

@dom @pneutig @pluralistic around mid 1800s we failed to execute all confederate treason leadership.
Then, in late 1940, early 1950s, the GOP started a process of backlash against social progress, and the scumvangalicals and nazis flocked to it, triggering a decades-long process, that eroded the Common goods, and role of State in regulating anything. Bribery of politicians became legal. Billionaires happened. Tea Party. MAGA.
Basically.

@dom @pneutig @pluralistic rest assured, there is a large part of the population here asking similar questions every day. It's truly sad that the answer to all these questions is "because that's not how fascism works"
Recovering from fascism is not fast or easy. It's going to take a lot of work. In the meantime, I'll ask folks in other countries who are dealing with the problems our country is causing to please remember we are not monolithic. There are people pushing back.

A military coup is likely to be very messy. Let's say the military decides to order a general election. Pissed-off Republicans would likely turn out to vote in record numbers, and we're back to square one. SCOTUS could nix the election as unconstitutional. If it did happen, the election results would be constitutionally invalid.
Any way it works out, it's going to be messy.
The only solution is a peaceful one: the 25th Amendment, impeachment, or a blood-clot.
