The United States: Our president cannot be held accountable for his crimes in a US court of law.

They enjoy this. Their only value measurement is:
"What can WE get away with?"
To them, the hypocrisy is nothing bad, it's a flex of their power.
@juergen_hubert @randahl exactly
-
@taatm @bufalo1973 @randahl That is a very slippery slope.
@rockiger @bufalo1973 @randahl
All slopes are slippery but that is not an excuse to not act.Also, I haven’t said Trump was right to do it. The question I have to ask everyone is, if that was Putin, would you say the same things?
I also hold that dictator types learn from inaction and by doing this Trump is more likely to take extreme measures elsewhere that are just all bad.

@taatm @randahl
"Here's the fucked part about the "Maduro is bad" discourse - when have we ever done a regime change operation that improved anyone's lives? When? Which time did we take out the "bad guy" and the people we were "liberating" were like "thank you Yankee swine; you saved us!" When has the general population of a country we regime changed thanked us for bombing them?"
-AnarchoNinaLet's ask the Iraqis or Afghans.
@clintruin @randahl
I agree this might well go to shit… but someone did ask the Venezuelans and they are happy.For the record. Trump is a cock.
-
@taatm @randahl in Spain the far right says the president is not legit and must be jailed... because they weren't elected. That doesn't mean the current president didn't follow the rules to become president. So by the far right idea, the US should invade Spain to kidnap the president... when he didn't break the law to become it. Don't you see the problem? Imagine another country where the opposition asks China to kidnap the president saying "s/he is not the president (because we say so)". Would it be right for China to do the same the US has done in Venezuela?
The kingdom of Spain doesn't have a president...
-
The kingdom of Spain doesn't have a president...
@ColmDonoghue @taatm @randahl then what the fuck is Pedro Sánchez?
-
@randahl
He wasn’t President, he lost, he just kept the title. Much like Putin. Venezuela was a mafia state under him.Trump being a dick is entirely separate, but don’t credit Maduro. If Trump did that to Putin I would applaud.
Why and how Trump did it is a grave concern, but Venezuela isn’t Greenland.
@taatm I fully agree with that point. I just find it ironic that the US administration — led by a convicted felon — wants to play global policeman.

@taatm @clintruin @randahl Are you saying that if ”someone” asks ten people from Greenland and they say it’s okay for Trump to invade, then it’s okay?
-
@ColmDonoghue @taatm @randahl then what the fuck is Pedro Sánchez?
@bufalo1973 prime minister. @ColmDonoghue @taatm

WW2. That was the one time regime change worked out wel. For the western half of Europe, at least. But it's hard to find other examples.

@randahl
So sick of this fat treasonous fuck.
His passing oughta be a world holiday....everyone gets a paid day off@ChrisHolladay I have a bottle of champagne saved.

The United States: Our president cannot be held accountable for his crimes in a US court of law. A president has absolute immunity.
Also The United States: Now watch us kidnap a president of a totally different country, to hold him accountable for his crimes… in a US court of law.
@randahl But the President of the US can be held accountable in another nations court ... Right? So every time the President is traveling out of US, the President is at risk ... Right? The same must be with the soldiers, government and others, there making "criminal acts" in the eyes of other nations... Am I total out of course?

️
Here in Canada we have 'Maple MAGA'...about maybe 5 to 10 percent of the population. They'd be overjoyed if the Americans 'abducted' our Prime Minister and stuck him in Rikers...and you'd hear the same discourse you're hearing from *some* Venezuelans.Who the American media would Amplify...right?

@randahl "We want mass deportations and secure boarders, but we also want violate other countries boarders and sovereignty with impunity."
Might makes right is the closest thing MAGA has to a consistent ideology. -

And was that The Americans?Or was that The Allied Forces?

He is entirely unaware, being the proud owner of but half a braincell, that he has now set a new precedent in international conflict.
Both Putin and Netanyahu are on wanted lists ...
-

@randahl Absolutely.
The right thing, done the wrong way for the wrong reasons. Especially after the MAGA propaganda about isolationism and not helping Ukraine.It was against international law. It was against US law. They have no post-plan. They don’t care. Trump probably wants a new friendly dictator. The only undeniable good thing was the current dictator was removed.
It was probably done as Medura was looking at Chinese long range missiles to threaten Texas oil refineries to prevent such an operation as this. A strike while they can.

@ahltorp @clintruin @randahl
Fuck no. Greenland is a democracy. Venezuela is a failed state with people dying from hunger and being shot by the regime.Can people not tell the difference?
