What I liked about original twitter was hearing funny one liners from comedians. If anyone on here can tell me good one-liner comics to follow, I'd really appreciate it. (Also, I think currently 3 people will see this message, so maybe those people could give me a boost?)

The half life of accounts on fuckaas.space seemed to be pretty low, although it might be average for that sort of migration from a different social network.
Hopefully theforkiverse ones last longer since that's a new instance rather than a migration from Bluesky or Twitter.

If you want people to see your posts you need to use hashtags. Boosts just clog up server storage & causes instances to fail when the costs for storage get out of control. "You're the algorithm" means you *subscribe* to the hashtags for topics you are interested in so they show up in your feed. The Fediverse runs on hashtags. If you don't use them, you're right - few folks are going to see your posts. There's nothing in your post that will put it in anyone's feed if you don't tag it.

If you want people to see your posts you need to use hashtags. Boosts just clog up server storage & causes instances to fail when the costs for storage get out of control. "You're the algorithm" means you *subscribe* to the hashtags for topics you are interested in so they show up in your feed. The Fediverse runs on hashtags. If you don't use them, you're right - few folks are going to see your posts. There's nothing in your post that will put it in anyone's feed if you don't tag it.
It's helpful to know that comments under main posts don't show up in non-follower feeds, or if they forget to add a tag. It's also ok to boost older posts, since the timeline is strictly chronological. If you post something in the morning you can boost it in the evening, for example.
The other thing is to set your auto delete of posts to get old stuff you boosted off your server. Mine is set for 1 week, but there are other options. Bookmark your own posts if you want to keep them.

And if you don't want to see stuff about, say, sports teams, you can mute hashtags you don't want in your homefeed. That way you mostly only see things you're actually interested in seeing and can follow people who post regularly on topics you like.
