I am an exiled journalist based in Germany. Before I was imprisoned back home, I had to permanently delete important data from my iPhone 12 Pro, mostly photos and videos documenting war-related stories.

I am now trying to recover that data. I have full access to the phone. It was switched off for a long time, and nothing has been overwritten since.

Could you please advise me on who I should speak to or where I could go for help?

@nerdosoph Thanks. Unfortunately, I don’t have a backup on iCloud.

@amiramank @nerdosoph since the phone was off and unused, the deleted data may still exist in unallocated space on the device’s storage. imo only prof forensic tools can scan the space for remnants of your photos + videos (though note: recovery of deleted photos/videos from iPhone 4s and newer is often not possible unless backed up)
