"To what end?" the reporter asked.
"Blood carries vigor, life force, vital energy. That's what we feed on."
"So how do you get it, if not through blood?"
"These days, we make doom scrolling apps to drain it."
@MicroSFF ...That's brilliant. Both on your part and on the vampire's.

@MicroSFF This reminds me of energy vampires from What We Do in the Shadows. They even explicitly have a scene where one of them has a pile of laptops and is trolling on a bunch of forums. I like your tweak that they're making the apps themselves

@MicroSFF now I'm curious what the line between succubi and vampires really is.

There was one story set in the White Wolf's "World Of Darkness" RPG, "Changeling: The Dreaming". that used this exact mechanic.
Only difference was that the story was set in a call centre, but the intent was the same.

@leberschnitzel Who he?
@MicroSFF a character from the show "What we do in the shadows".
He's an energy vampire and basically does what you say in your short story. But mostly he drains people by annoying then with boring talk and trolling them online. -

One sucks on blood and swallows. The other... hmm, let me think this better -
