@GossiTheDog ...at the same time i spoke a retired friend who was very enthusiastic about the new AI features in Adobe Photoshop, it really made his hobby more interesting.

@ErikJonker @GossiTheDog Yes, if your hobby is shopping other people's photos to shitpost on reddit, having a tool that helps you steal other people's creative work probably sounds appealing...

Yesterday, I heard for the first time people outside of the tech echo chamber talking about AI.

It was my dad asking how to remove Gemini from his phone, as he didn’t want it. Then somebody else asked how to remove Copilot from their TV. That was the entire conversation about GenAI - how to disable it.

I don’t see how that is equivalent to inventing the internet, as AI founders claim they have.

@GossiTheDog Honestly, with the Google settlement about their voice assistants eavesdropping, "accidentally" triggering Google assistant constantly, and just HOW much Google keeps pushing gemini into everything I'm thinking about moving my Pixel over to GrapheneOS.

      I just want to escape!

@GossiTheDog I was listening to a podcast with some Google vulnerability disclosure heads begging people to not use AI for their reports.

@dalias @GossiTheDog ...wow, your are totally locked-up in your own thinking, the person i mentioned did nothing even close to what you just mentioned... he was editing his OWN work...., he is not on reddit or social media....

              @GossiTheDog

How to permanently remove AI ?

              1. Replace Microsoft Windows with Linux or a BSD. But do not replace it with Red Hat Linux or any Red Hat derivatives. I hear RH is adding AI to their distro.

              2. For the phone, replace with one of these, but that is not easy. I have never tried but my phone is only used for calls, 2 games and once in a while texting. I know I would have a hard time installing it.

Quote: "I don’t see how that is equivalent to inventing the internet, as AI founders claim they have."

I am sure this quote is rhetorical 🙂

I think we all know why #AI founders are pushing AI. It is because it will allow their companies to get much more/better personal information from us then anything else that now exists.

@GossiTheDog My mom liked the inbox categorization feature on Gmail, but their ML summaries of our family interactions irritated her so much that she figured out how to disable Smart Features on her own and considered the loss of categorization an acceptable collateral. 😌

@GossiTheDog well my uncle loves shoving our family photos into the blender to make things and even my mom and sister despise spending christmas with them. when we went back home it was actually a relief.

that's what ai is, really. annoying, or making you annoying.

@jmcunx why not just install an custom ROM without google on your android. AOSP is open source and quite good.

Apple phones on the other site..

@jmcunx@mastodon.sdf.org @GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social RHEL isnt the same as Fedora. I didnt heard anything about Fedora adding any LLM to default installation.

That being said, since its mostly RH-run circus do expect a lot of LLMs in the project and community
