Honesty, that's fair. It really would benefit from a backlight or external light.You could use the SDK or mirror to play it that way but that kind of defeats the purpose I suppose.
Also, don't try the mirror on Linux because old library requirements (no flatpak either) SDK works though
@Aprazeth I wanted to love PlayDate, I even got SDK before many, had a chance to interact with some incredible folks in the private Discord, but when I finally got a physical device, I realised that there are very few specific places in my life where I can comfortably play it, which is a bit sad.

@nina_kali_nina @Aprazeth i honestly just don't see the appeal of the playdate, it's absolutely overpriced for what it is. you're much better off getting any game boy or DS at that price -

Oeff yeah, and now I am kinda sorry for mentioning the game in the first place. I honestly was not aware of that.
It indeed is a very niche/specific type of device in a very niche/specific situation.
Relatedly, I do own a few other portable consoles I don't use (much) so I do have a record of buying things like that

True, I was enamored with the size primarily for the Playdate. Price is indeed way too hefty for that alone.
Refurbished/second hand Gameboy easily goes for 120/150 Euro these days (from a shop/reseller). And that's before any accessories/games of course
Ugh! At least I have my original NES and the games from when I was growing up
