This is how The American Civil War 2.0 begins.

@carbon_compound but there is. The midterms are just 10 months away. Picking up arms now is saying no to democracy up front.
This is not the way.
@randahl as if there is left democracy at all over there.
-
@dcdeejay there is nothing "inflammatory" about pointing out the fact that resorting to violence is the wrong path that plays directly into the hands of the regime.
@randahl I think you could have made that very important point without that first sentence and that particular video clip.
-
@randahl the Black Panthers showing up places armed was one of the only ways the US ever implemented any kind of gun control. Yea, this is a dangerous situation and exactly what Trump wanted. But these folks aren’t the ones doing wrong. It’s the US government.
These guys are walking the anti-tyranny walk that the 2nd amendment clowns always talked big about, but then those assholes ended up on the side of tyranny. These guys are the brave ones.
@helava I understand why people would love what he says.
But strategically this works against democracy.
This is all feeling, zero thought.

While it is expected that people would react this way, sadly this is EXACTLY what Stephen Miller and Trump wants. All the regime is waiting for is for the first ICE officer to be gunned down by guys like these, so they can invoke the insurrection act, send in the tanks, and end democracy.
This is NOT the way.
Defeat Trump decisively in the midterms and throw him in jail. That has a real chance of working — zero violence involved.
@randahl It's worth asking what will be the appropriate mode of resistance if (as seems not entirely unlikely at this point) the Trump/Miller junta spike elections in 2026 or 2028. (Not only in terms of action, but also, and more so, in terms of organization. The latter seems the most important outcome of resistance efforts in Los Angeles, Chicago, and now Minneapolis. Citizens worthy of the name are on a learning curve.)

WTF @ChrisHolladay? Could someone talk these guys down before they flush democracy down the drain?

@randahl Whether it was intended or not - I assume not or else I wouldn't be a long time follower of yours - trust me when I suggest that "the civil war will start because the black guys have guns" might not sit well with a lot of people, and more importantly, isn't necessary to make your valid point.
-

@dcdeejay I respect your concern. But this video is all over Musk's disinformation platform, and trying to put the genie back in the bottle will not work.
It is crucial that we talk about this. And that video shows exactly what we need to address.
But let me try to improve the post so my point is clearer.

@randahl The two unanalysed assumptions in your post are (1) that civil war is avoidable at this point given that the regime has already started one by kidnapping and murdering innocent citizens, and (2) that the regime has not already ended democracy.
Both of these assumptions are palpably false, however much trouble liberals may have accepting reality. Any one of the resisters the Black Panthers are protecting here could be next on the ICE hit list. They've begun brutalising children.
Kids.

@dcdeejay please hold your horses.
This has NOTHING to do with this guy's beautiful skin color. I do not care if you are black, white, or even purple in your face. But if you start going around telling people they can defeat the guy who controls the world's most dangerous military, by bringing shotguns and rifles to protests, I will argue against that ANY day.
-
@randahl as if there is left democracy at all over there.
It'd be nice if we had confidence in the midterms.

But when all laws are tossed in the garbage in the meantime, who's going to be left to vote? Who's going to be brave enough to go to the polls while being threatened with getting gunned down. The enemy within is our own government and they are killing us...with guns, with lack of healthcare, not being able to buy food...
I can't advocate the violence, but just sitting here getting our asses kicked, and killed, is just as stupid.

@randahl
I live in a fked up red district. the guys with guns wear trump hats and fk pre teens... wrong guys here....... but it's gonna be those assholes in the Army that start shit.... little skinhead fker's wet dream to shoot hispanics and blacks -

@randahl Another good point. And I am not suggesting your post was racist - I am suggesting the original post unnecessarily pours salt in long open wounds along violent and racial lines, in a country that is struggling to hold itself together and regain its footing. Others may not feel that way, but I suspect I'm not alone.

You are wrong on this one, Randahl. I understand your point but you are wrong. -

@ApostateEnglishman I am furious with what the regime is doing — the people they are hurting; the killing of Renee Good.
But this does not change the fact, that if the American people picks up weapons against the regime now, everything goes sideways. Every court case, every protest, every collection of evidence — everything is replaced with violence, and thousands will die.
This is handing the regime the justification it needs to send in the tanks.
This is not the way.
-
@randahl
You are wrong on this one, Randahl. I understand your point but you are wrong.@virtuous_sloth here are the two options:
A: Wait it out, let 10 months pass, defeat Trump decisively in the midterms, and only if Trump does not respect the result, pick up arms. Few people die in 2026.
B: Pick up arms, give Trump an excuse for sending in the tanks. Thousands die in 2026.
Please elaborate why I am wrong when claiming that A is better than B.

@randahl If I was PM Carney, I would reply as follows - thank you - I dont enjoy traveling to Dick-tatertot-ships

@randahl So do you think if everyone remains calm, unarmed and defenseless, the regime will respect this? That it won't simply keep escalating its own violence until it has the excuse it needs to deploy the military, whatever that may take?
Is there some theoretical threshold of murdered and/or illegally detained civilians past which you would accept that however this ends, it isn't going to end peacefully?
Where is your red line?

@ApostateEnglishman this is certainly difficult to quantify, because any killing is one too many.
But would you not agree, that in all likelyhood, fewer will die if the American people wait it out and defeat Trump in the midterms, as compared to picking up arms and Trump sending in the tanks?
Remember, Black Panthers killed police officers and civilians back in the day. If that starts happening now, you are on the direct path to civil war and thousands will die.

@randahl @helava US democracy is dead. The midterms, like you think those retards in charge will let the election vhange anything or even take place ?
If Americans rioted like mad, and I mean rioted, in the very beginning, if they haven't been brainwashed for 50 years to be submissive, this whole situation won't even be here.
It is time to fuck shit up or you will never have anything to do ever anymore.

@randahl This has happened before and Americans do not side with the government when they use arms against the people, even when the people are armed.
You are imagining what might happen in a country outside the US.
