I feel sorry for people looking stuff up, now, with how many sites are just generated slop.

I rewired my bedroom as a teen with info found on Usenet. Accurate info from a real person with the knowledge I needed instead of a LLM running a predictive algorithm on what a real answer might be.

@nomenloony some people trust LLMs with medical advice, imagine! It's not just crucial tech that's total slop, it is life threatening advice about drug use and such.
We need to curb in the use of A.I. - we need to make someone take responsibility for errors!

@nomenloony The problem is that people insist on using the name AI - when the correct name is LLM (short for statistics based guessing mashine)

Domain expert here: they aren't extremely effective for me in my field (programming) because to tell an LLM precisely enough what to do, I'd have to use a verbose English description, and I've already constructed the solution in my head in a more structural form that isn't words. Turning it back into words to tell an LLM what code to generate is a step backwards.

we were probably better off when diffusion was melting the letters together as it at least hinted that the output was an approximation.
