@GossiTheDog They have to, so their enormous investment makes sense.

@GossiTheDog waiting for some company to replace their entire c-suite with AI to prove what a lot of people have suspected all along.

@GossiTheDog Perhaps they need to ask people 'how much time is AI wasting'

I imagine for every hour it saves, it wastes 4x as much time.

This is a great point. It is only asking about time saved, when it should ask how much time is wasted as well.

@GossiTheDog this makes sense: the C-suite people don't have time to read all the thoughtful documents generated by workers and middle-management, and AI summaries same them the trouble.

we'll refrain from getting into whatever blindness prevents them from seeing that important divergence in how work-time is spent within their company.

@GossiTheDog As usual, the truth is somewhere between the two extremes.

*When* I've used AI, it has saved me considerable time. But I have used it *rarely* - only in those cases, when I *knew* that it would save me time. If I had to worth with AI every day, all the time, it would probably waste more time than it would save - because I'd have to constantly check its mistakes.

The point I am trying to make is that AI *is* useful but it has *niche* application. It's a tool, not a cure-all. People should be *taught* when using it is beneficial - which is by far not all the time. And it definitely shouldn't be stuffed into every app and web site.

@GossiTheDog if a C-suite is running multiple company like elon musk with tesla, spaceX and Xai, saving more than 12h a week means they could be entirely replaced by bullshit machine

@GossiTheDog we had a similar questionaire in our company (initiated by C-suites) and there was no option to select "no time saved or time lost"... the choices were just less than 4h, 4-12h, 12-16h and more than 16h. they were not asking how much time we actually save. it was a trick question. kind of like "how much do you love big brother?"

Maybe I'm an optimist, but I refuse to believe that "AI" is inevitable. I think the more people that resist, and point out the problems, the more likely it will go away.

I don't disagree with you that the powers that be are pushing "AI" and aren't going to give a fair shot to both sides of the discussion. But I'm not willing to just give up and accept that it's inevitable.

I don’t have the link handy, but I believe some research paper is found that workers who think AI is saving them times say they think AI save them 20% of their time.

The research shows that it’s wasted 20%.

C suites think GenAI is saving loads of time vs the actual workers, who don’t.

@GossiTheDog C-suite execs were already bullshit generators. Of course a bullshit-generator machine would save them time.

@GossiTheDog i imagine c-suite, who write and receive lots of boring emails that don't get read are saving a lot of time as much of what they do is non-essential to business.

Workers, however, who produce all the value of a company are not experiencing the same thing.
