omg I'm reading this dumb twitter article but can't continue because I'm laughing too hard at this diagram.

@ArchiteuthisFlux I made the two terrible mistakes of buying the original in 2024, and then being unemployed. I'm sure I'll eventually cave for the shiny new thing though...
(And no I'm not in any serious way saying buying the original was a mistake, god I hate jumper wires for what should be a relatively simple test circuit being thrown together, which is most of my breadboard use)
@turmoni Not to tempt you further, but I do have a $150 off discount code for "upgrade pricing."
I have no way to automatically verify you have an OG Jumperless so the process is just DMing me and I'll take your word for it and send you a code.

@grumble209 @ArchiteuthisFlux
I want to know now how they thought "be a lighthouse" helped.What was their angle? Something about shining or guiding or just working all night?
@smallsees @ArchiteuthisFlux I think their idea was to "shine a light" instead of bitching. It was all rather vague.

@grumble209 @smallsees Just from skimming the intro (through snark colored glasses), I think the word they were actually looking for was Panopticon.

omg I'm reading this dumb twitter article but can't continue because I'm laughing too hard at this diagram. Like, using this as a definition of an intelligent system then crashing into the fucking rocks because you don't know wtf a lighthouse is.
@ArchiteuthisFlux Garbage in, garbage out. Tell a computer to punch itself in the face and it absolutely will.
-
@ArchiteuthisFlux Could they be delivering groceries to the lighthouse?

@FredricT Ohhh I hope so, that looks like such a fun job

@ArchiteuthisFlux @smallsees HR is a mixed bag; some great folks, some not so much.
I've had fewer WTF? moments dealing with corporations as a contractor than as an employee. I've found the people in Accounts Payable much easier to deal with than HR.

@ArchiteuthisFlux also, that's not how you navigate, at all.
It looks more like a sailboat tacking, and failing to pay attention to the massive lighthouse in their direction of travel

Counterpoint?

@sortius @ArchiteuthisFlux not to be nitpicky but: don't boats steer port/ starboard, not left/right?

@ArchiteuthisFlux
let them founder
let em sink
let them drown if
they won't think -

@patrascan @ArchiteuthisFlux technically, yes. Depends on how much nautical training you've had

-
I have no way to make this seem at all relevant but now that this post has broken containment, you should get a Jumperless V5
@ArchiteuthisFlux That thing is cool!

@ArchiteuthisFlux That thing is cool!
@davebauerart Thanks! I agree (obviously)

@patrascan @ArchiteuthisFlux technically, yes. Depends on how much nautical training you've had

@sortius @patrascan I prefer to use House Left (Port) and Stage Left (Starboard)

@sortius @ArchiteuthisFlux I have no nautical training whatsoever. I'm just a landlubber and avid reader who has enjoyed numerous books about adventures on the high seas.
