B: Pick up arms, give Trump an excuse for sending in the tanks. Thousands die in 2026.
Please elaborate why I am wrong when claiming that A is better than B.

Stay legal, but let everyone know that you're very much armed and prepared to defend yourself. That seems to be the Black Panther strategy, and it could help in case of B, and make A more likely (because they can't just send in amateur ICE goons to disrupt the midterms).

Which "disband ICE and throw Trump in jail" party has a chance in hell of winning the the midterms?The democrats are at most going to slow him down slightly, but if they were going to get rid of either Trump or ICE, they would have done so before his second term. They will always be the party of the status quo.

@randahl ICE is spending $100 million USD for influence campaigns this year, partly for recruiting, but I'm sure operations to manage public perceptions and even to encourage violence from the left are a part of it.
Everything ICE does is an attempt to provoke violence, but I'd rather be the matador than the bull...

I speak from a place of formally white ignorance. If you are white, the first thing you should do is make sure you know what the Black Panther party is. You need to know what racist powers did to discredit them. The Black Panther party acts within the law. If you don’t want him to have a gun, pass gun laws. If you don’t want the need for him, dismantle ICE. If you don’t want the Black Panthers feeding the school kids and giving them pencils, feed the kids at school and give them pencils.
I’m probably an outlier but if a Black man stands up and says he’s willing to stand up and defend others within the law (because ICE is acting illegally, self-defence is legal), I need to back him, because he is already backing me.

Isn't this what the second amendment for? Not saying it's a good idea, but it's kind of how it is.

@GeofCox @Lynnd @randahl I'll agree insofar as there are conversations that are probably best left till *after* the midterms were scheduled to occur - and perhaps this is one of them.
Personally, I'm unable to follow the trajectory of current events to a place where those elections are allowed to proceed fairly, if at all. Just can't see that happening.
I also don't think it reasonable to expect communities to not defend themselves against daily assault. Sooner or later someone will retaliate.

What is building a state sponsored militia of thugs, rounding up people, break into their homes, deporting them, beating them up, even killing them if not a civil war?
There is an active war ongoing and the question is only, which is the best tactic to fight back.
