Sometimes people who book outside talent, whether for speaking or contracts, don't have the budget to reward you as well as you both think they should. However they do have accommodations/per-diem/etc. budgets from a different pool of money and knowledge of the local hotels, restaurants and so on. This sounds like one of those cases.

I will say that email platforms absolutely definitely throttled you but only in the same way that a human person was not allowed to stick a hundred thousand pieces of lettermail in the corner box.
