A rather unusual version of the symbols from the Glasgow Coat of Arms outside Hillhead Primary School in the city's West End. Top to bottom they are the bird, the fish, the bell and the tree.

Love this little addition to a Strong Winds warning sign I spotted near the Rest And Be Thankful during a quick hillwalking trip to the Arrochar Alps yesterday.Love this little addition to a Strong Winds warning sign I spotted near the Rest And Be Thankful during a quick hillwalking trip to the Arrochar Alps yesterday. However, I failed to find the plaque marking the spot where the fictional Barry from EastEnders was pushed to his death by the equally fictional Janine. Scotland has some weird stuff!

Good morning, Glasgow.Good morning, Glasgow. This was today's sunrise behind the Glasgow Science Centre at 08:46 GMT. This is one minute earlier than the latest sunrise of the winter (which occurs for just over a week between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day) and from now on the sun will rise earlier and earlier each day until the 17th of June, when the sun will rise at 03:30 GMT (04:30 BST). Here's to almost six months lighter mornings!

It might be mid-winter's day here in Glasgow, but these snowdrops in Tollcross Park are already poking their green shoots above the ground in preparation for the approaching spring. It might be mid-winter's day here in Glasgow, but these snowdrops in Tollcross Park are already poking their green shoots above the ground in preparation for the approaching spring.

An amusing, and presumably temporary, addition to Paul Raphael Montford's statue of Philosophy on the Kelvin Way Bridge in Glasgow. An amusing, and presumably temporary, addition to Paul Raphael Montford's statue of Philosophy on the Kelvin Way Bridge in Glasgow. I guess it makes a change from a road cone!
