@kaleb @javahippie hey Tim, I'd love to check out your project. I tried to sign up but I need a registration password. Would you be able to DM me one?

Trying out the fediverse for the first time today.@haraldkliems @kaleb @openstreetmap the platform started out just POIs on a map. I found it hard to use open street maps to view the data I wanted about the campgrounds. In the future, I'd like to have the platform sync with OSM so people can see the data in other places.
right now I'm exploring other functionality for the site similar to things that https://www.crazyguyonabike.com/ has. But modernized with new functionality that I would like to have.

Trying out the fediverse for the first time today.@kaleb @haraldkliems do you have any recs for good alternatives?

Trying out the fediverse for the first time today.@evan amazing, thank you!

Trying out the fediverse for the first time today.@evan I saw that in your bio, definitely going to take a look. for the working group, will there be a link to join the call on the site? i saw the github, are there any minutes from previous meetings that I can catch up on?

Trying out the fediverse for the first time today.@evan this sounds really cool! I need to wrap my head around how ActivityPub works, so that I could more meaningfully contribute, but I'm definitely interested in joining.

Trying out the fediverse for the first time today.@ati1 the map has US and Canada. It could take points from anywhere, I've just been adding stuff that I know right now and promoting in groups for US cycling routes.

Trying out the fediverse for the first time today.@Reinald @clew thanks, I'll take a look at this! similar name to another app that I love: https://wandrer.earth/

Trying out the fediverse for the first time today.@http_error_418 thanks for the tip, I fixed it! it really is great being on a platform that lets you do the little things, like edit.

Trying out the fediverse for the first time today.@NotYours there isn't any data right now for the EU, just because no one has added any.
I've been focused on US and Canada right now since that's what I know and have experience with. I hope to expand to the EU as I run out of data to add in the US and start seeking out stuff for the EU.

Trying out the fediverse for the first time today.@clew right now it refers to content you put online, like photos and posts you make about your long distance bicycle adventures.
long term, I'd love to see a federated version of Strava. every year they cut down their api access further and further. but it's our data and we should be able to share with any external apps we want.
I'm trying to figure out how I can use the tools I'm building to expose more cyclists to the fediverse and help fuel that demand.

Trying out the fediverse for the first time today.@StaceyCornelius I hadn't seen these! thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Trying out the fediverse for the first time today.@theraccoonbytes @blog this looks extremely helpful, thank you!

Trying out the fediverse for the first time today.@theraccoonbytes I would love any advice you have. The website is just a NextJS app that I've built. I'm starting to build a blogging platform around the map on the website.
I don't fully understand yet how I'd then get that on the fediverse. Do I fork an existing platform and build on that so that when you open one of these posts on my serve you can see all of the enhanced features, like mapping and gpx downloads?
I don't think I fully grasp how this is all wired up yet.

Trying out the fediverse for the first time today.Trying out the fediverse for the first time today. I've been reading a lot about it, now it's time to figure out how it works and build an internet home here.
My goal is to figure out how I can bring https://gobikecamping.com/ into the fediverse and help people who love bike touring own their data and escape the metaverse.
