@freyablekman My daughter wanted to follow my footsteps, and study mech engineering at Technical University Munich.
So on a girls day, some postgrad engineer decided he needed help at pouring liqiid silver into a form, on open stage. He picked her, 17 yo, a tiny build, long blonde hair, and is a bit on the endowned size of female charms. He made her dress in a protective suit that was huge on her, stand in it next to a furnace melting aluminium, for half an hour, the visor fogging, sweat pouring, and then handle 10 kgs of liquid aluminium. I bet he had fun, joking about small hands, and heavy lifting, while she was suffering the heat and the fear. The situation was as sexist as it was when I studied, 25 years earlier.
When she came home, she had decided on doing somethig less "hands-on", she then graduated in Applied Math..
