We, @spriebsch and @sebastian, have been frustrated watching great #PHP articles appear, get a moment of attention, and quietly disappear, while AI-generated fluff fills up search results. -

As a speaker, I regularly submit talk proposals to conferences.Whether someone is a first-time submitter or a seasoned presenter, everyone deserves the courtesy of clear communication.
We all invest time, effort, and often emotion into our proposals. A brief, respectful email acknowledging that contribution costs little, but it makes a big difference.

As a speaker, I regularly submit talk proposals to conferences. This is not about ego or entitlement.
I do not see myself as more deserving than anyone else who takes the time to submit a talk proposal.
What I am advocating for is a basic level of professionalism and respect: for all speakers.

As a speaker, I regularly submit talk proposals to conferences.Until that point, I have kept time blocked in my calendar for travel, preparation, and the event itself. Time I could have allocated elsewhere if I knew earlier.
Not informing submitters that their talk was not accepted may seem like a small thing, but it is deeply unprofessional.
A simple "Thank you, but not this time" email goes a long way.

As a speaker, I regularly submit talk proposals to conferences. As a speaker, I regularly submit talk proposals to conferences. I do not expect every one of them to be accepted, that is part of the process.
What I do expect is basic respect and communication.
Unfortunately, I have noticed a growing trend: more and more conferences simply never send out rejection emails.
Instead, I only find out weeks or months later, when the schedule is published, that my submission was not accepted.
