Regarding the #Threema acquisition:

1) Threema has been owned by financial investors for some time now. So, even though I'm wary of investors in principle, the situation doesn't change much, at least in this regard.
2) The new investor hasn't previously invested into software/tech. This is seen by some in the fediverse as a bad thing. Maybe you're right. But we can be pretty sure they won't bend their spoon to replace the existing development team.
3) Enshittification is real. But not every 1/3

sale of a company to an investor leads to enshittification - there are different types of investors. Komoot went downhill the moment they were acquired. Fritz (the company formerly known as AVM) was sold 18 months ago. So far their products haven't become shittier than they were to begin with. JIP acquired the Olympus camera division five years ago. If anything, this has revitalised the OM product line.

The latter two are hardware companies. This makes it easier to establish a continuous 2/3

flow of revenue, I know.

But Threema has Threema Work and Threema OnPrem. There is a business case without enshittification.

Does this mean that all is well? I really don't know. But I'm not ready to jump ship. 3/3

Irgendwo müssen die Systeme liegen, die Telefonnummern und Mail-Adressen in Bankverbindungen übersetzen. Nach meiner Erinnerung ging es darum.

Es ist aber auch Handy-only, was idR nicht-gerootetes Android oder iOS mit Apps aus dem Store bedeutet.
