No, Trump does not have the legal authority or the practical ability to “nationalize” US elections, for all the same reasons he also didn’t when he issued an executive order a few months ago abolishing mail in voting. But I would agree, that it is probably much easier to influence elections before and after (just not swearing in people, endless court cases, voter suppression) then it would be to tamper with the actual election data.

But personally I feel doubtful that they are still safe from federal executive interference, combined with the present #scotus. If he tries, can you be sure he will fail?

But aren't things changed now? His personal law firm, also known as DOJ is putting the screws on blue states to get voter data. And his personal police force, also known as FBI, has taken actual physical voter material from a state.

French IT giant Capgemini, amid an uproar damaging its reputation, decides to immediately sell its subsidiary that provides ICE with skip tracing services.Am I reading this right that Cap Gemini is saying that the USA government has an existing gag order like structure about government contracts for things like law enforcement?

First of all Europe MUST disentangle itself from the dependencies on the US empire. Then we can always cooperate on a case to case basis.
Personally I have been in favor of dissolving NATO and having our own European army from the fall of the Berlin war. I found it common sense AND important to do. But the EU is a quagmire, it's a bunch of kittens all running in different directions.

Last week, federal trial court Judge Kate Menendez issued a temporary restraining order prohibiting use of tear gas and other riot control weapons by ICE in Minneapolis. This is torture, plain and simple. The perpetrators should be held to account by any country in the world, should they come in their jurisdiction.

From this side of the Atlantic (the UK side) it looks like the US is slipping towards civil war, goaded on by a President wanting to invoke the Insurrection Act as a way of militarising his political power.@Flisty @ChrisMayLA6 @lukeryanps
It is a very long running story arc. The degradation of US liberalism really started getting steam with Reagan. But really the seeds were already put in the ground with the overly advantageous end of World War II which left them without enough counter weight for the idea of exceptionalism, and from there it really just went all down hill, slow at first, but ever accelerating from the Reagan period.
