Weird. I enable Narrator, and it comes on but with no speech. I try switching to OneCore speech in NVDA and see this: Synthesizer Error dialog Could not load the oneCore synthesizer. Well, that explains everything. Something has fucked up my OneCore, preventing programs that should be able to speak from speaking. I've heard of SAPI 5 dying like this, but never OneCore.

I type really fast.I type really fast. Too fast for eSpeakup apparently, because I was installing Debian 13 in VMWare Workstation 25H2 just now, got to the part where I enter my full name for my user account, started quickly typing my name, got as far as typing "Stu H" before eSpeakup just fell over and died. No problem, I'll restart the VM and try again. The exact same thing happened at the exact same point in setup. This is the state of Linux accessibility in 2026.

I've found another interface to the Wayback Machine like The Old Net called Wayback Classic.I've found another interface to the Wayback Machine like The Old Net called Wayback Classic. Just enter a URL and hit lookup, and the site shows you capture dates for the URL in a nice table format. Click on a month in the table to see entries for that year and month. Unlike The Old Net, WBC will take you to the actual web.archive.org entry rather than giving you a site within a site. https://wayback-classic.net/
