So it's looking like I'm going to have to get really serious about putting a mechanism in place to hand off the domain registration and hosting management to a trusted other party if something were to happen to me at these ICE protests. They'll be coming into the areas around my city and probably my neighborhood in the next few days and weeks.
I might not come back from a protest.
That said, I don't want this wonderful community to just disappear with me. So if somebody is willing to take on some basic domain management and making sure server bills get paid, I'd be grateful to have someone there as a fall back to.
It's nothing too technically complicated, just knowing where to point a domain DNS record according to the space bear hosting instructions (and I haven't had to touch that since we set up initially), and making sure the bill gets paid. Right now I've got all those donations just going to a separate online account and bill pay for hosting comes out automatically so long as there's enough. Aside from that, moderation duties have been manageable, updating the block list from iftas and fedigarden from time to time and when someone reports some trash.
In fact, of someone wants to volunteer to help with the rather quiet moderation or trending posts/links stuff, I can promote someone(s) for that too.
