Oh dear... X in the UK has seen the advertising spend drop by nearly 60% in one year according to its latest accounts (for 2023/4) with the firm admitting that the reduction was,

'driven by a reduction in spend from large brand advertisers due to concerns about brand safety, reputation and/or content moderation'

Yup, even X seems to understand the enshitification under the leadership of Elon Musk has had significant financial impact on the firm.

If surging gold prices indicate concerns elsewhere in the global economy then the fact that gold has had its 'best year' (in terms of % price increases) since 1979, might be yet one more indicator that the AI bubble is approaching a bursting point...

But, equally optimists might argue that it was another eight years before a financial crisis hit after 1979's gold surge, so there's plenty of time for AI-related speculative gains yet...
