I personally find it unfortunate that people dislike Matrix, but some of my Discord friends gave me the (happy!) surprise of moving to Signal and moving me there too!
I'm personally am looking at the Discord-like "Revolt". I had very little Discord activity in the past two years given the privacy issues anyway.
