Wikipedia didn't change, the world around it did. Just because everything around it got worse doesn't mean that it got better even if it's now one of the more reliable sources. Checking references on Wikipedia is still an important thing.

To be clear, I'm not saying Wikipedia is bad and I agree capitalism is the problem but "trust, but verify" is important to follow.

There have been Nazis in the US for over a century... They had their meetings in fairly public forums in the 20s and 30s and there's no doubt they had their influence on government but I think the 60s when that began it's institutionalism into government.

I'm not intending to point fingers or absolve any entity of responsibility. Just trying to share what I have seen and how I've interpreted our history from inside the US.

The biggest turning point here in the US was 9/11 and the patriot act. That was when a lot of rights were removed from citizens but I think it's been brewing since LBJ after JFK was assassinated.

The thing about US authoritarianism is that for most of it's existence it grew inside of corporate America who, in pursuit of profits, infiltrated politics. Most didn't realize this and continued to support companies who did the wrong thing. The misunderstanding that we voted only in November and not every day with every dollar we spent was key... And sadly many still don't understand this.
