@spreadthetruth @MisuseCase @futurebird I known a few teachers more from smaller towns in the midwest, and while generally less racist /conservative than others in that zone, I could definitely still see some of them falling into taxpayerism type thinking where that metality fuels their latent racism

This guy named Ben Palmer made an "Immigration tip line" and people call it thinking he's ICE. -
This guy named Ben Palmer made an "Immigration tip line" and people call it thinking he's ICE.@spreadthetruth @MisuseCase @futurebird I don't want to steal-man this horrible behavior, but I do wonder about the under-funding of public schools and teachers and how much it contributes via a scarcity / 'taking up resources' angle. Like, is this evidence how austerity breeds hate or somesuch, I guess

This is breaking my heart right now 💔In our neighborhood today a teen was just taken from his car. Groceries left in the front seat. Probably he was just out shopping for his family who are sheltering at home.
We've been seeing this at the grocery store, young kids doing the shopping with their parents on a video call. The assumption maybe is the kids are natural born citizens and definitely not criminals or whatever so ICE would leave them alone.
I case you were wondering, ICE is still terrorizing #Minneapolis

We have tried to really limit the news we share with our kids, especially the scarier stuff, but our 6 year old knows enough of what is going on to be able to come up with this sign on her own, she made it for me to take to a protest.

I rode passenger today on a patrol watching for ICE in my neighborhood in Minneapolis.@ianbicking We are helping stand out at school in our neigborhood. The report from faculty is that members of six families were snatched this morning. Kids are super distracted - the ones who are even showing up, and teachers and faculty are too.
Standing there with a whistle just in case feels silly. "We can't solve this from here" is absolutely correct.
