Like, dude, it's 2026 and you are just starting your gamedev adventure, forget about making 200k.

You know, hearing that people who just start developing games don't want to choose Unity because of its "runtime fee" (that was changed twice already) is amount of #gamedev confidence that I would like to have. -

"i don't know how it's done in other engines, i only use [engine name here], so i don't care about other engines" is such a close-minded take"i don't know how it's done in other engines, i only use [engine name here], so i don't care about other engines" is such a close-minded take
the best thing you can do for yourself as a developer is to look at how things are done by others, so you could have a different perspective on things that community might be a little bit too opinionated about (to the religious extent)
curiosity is never a bad thing
lack of curiosity however turns you into a mindless husk

"You fool!I'm not here to "solve #gamedev", I'm not here to minmax the shit out of process, to squeeze everything, to optimize my posting time to cover wider audiences. I did all that when I was younger, it didn't work out.
I'm here for the love of the game. The most obscure and unknown game developer that you somehow saw on your timeline.
I just like making games. Even if no one knows them, even if no one is breathing down my neck hoping to see what I'm up to.
I just like making games. For fun.

"You fool!"You fool! Make games, not engines!"
Listen, I'm having so much fun making engines for games, studying foreign concepts, libraries, obscure techniques, I think I'm gonna ignore this advice and keep doing my thing.
There is no right way to do #gamedev when you are here just to enjoy the process and not to pay your bills or get rich. So why not do exactly that? Even if I won't end up making any game or that game will be so unpopular even I will forget it in a month, so be it. It was fun.
