I finally installed Immich this weekend, and oh my gourd is it awesome.

@vkc I've been so impressed with it. I just need to ease my family into it as a secondary place to keep photos.

It doesn't quite find things like Google Photos, but at least it's all happening on the wee box under our TV.

I followed the Docker Compose instructions, but subbed Podman for Docker and so far I've hit no snags!

@vkc Just switched to this from PhotoPrism! I like Immich so much so far! I'm eventually going to build some photo frames for my family using this project: https://immichframe.dev and I'm really looking forward to it!

@metaphase don't know about iPhone but I'm syncing multiple Android devices right now and it's fine!

@vkc Holy shit this might be exactly what I need to replace Lightroom! Thanks for sharing. Adding it to the "too try" list.

@vkc That has been my experience as well. Differences can occur when dealing with network filing systems. Accessing those may be handled differently.

@bearmine @vkc keep in mind that it has essentially no editing features. But it is good at search and organising

@vkc interestingly a friend just asked me to deploy Immich for them as well… but without Docker, because Unix, so far going well. Let’s see how it ends

@gustav @vkc Darktable (and others) can fill editing. It's the organizing/management that's the killer feature of Lightroom I can't find a replacement for.

But this is good to know.

@bearmine @gustav they also have some basic manipulation on the roadmap. Not Lightroom but still!
