Things that are forbidden are often very attractive to ppl.
and: I assume that this will be the path to more surveillance... and I don't think that this will be a good path.
It is the path to the dark side. -

Further reading: https://www.dw.com/en/european-nations-mull-social-media-ban-for-children-instagram-tiktok-anxiety-depression/a-75841184@hpod16 The addictive mechanisms from Social Media are a problem for people of every age that needs to be regulated. Also teenagers don’t become immune to those mechanisms suddenly on their 16th birthday.

Instead of properly regulating those engagement-driven platforms which are destroying the very fabric of our societies, we'll introduce a mandatory identity verification for everyone, just to prevent kids from using them.
This way, we'll end up with catastrophic implementations of age verification with data leaking left and right, loss of anonymity/privacy while not addressing the elephant in the room: allowing those platforms to act in whatever way they want.

Instead of hunting the perpetrators, the victims are being locked up. This is the logic of an overreaching nanny state that mistrusts its citizens. True security comes from strong families, not from state paternalism that drives teenagers into digital isolation. It won’t work anyway: our children will simply ask us to register their phones as adult devices."

They make billions. They can afford the dev work to do this.

In the end you need to get rid of the addictive part to get children off of social media.

Teenagers are more intelligent than any of old people in gov. so i let 3 to 6 hours for any ban to be bypassed.
And that will reduce their security as no one will ensure their security anymore because officially they aren't there anymore

Kids would probably run it and use it just fine if it wasn’t for those pesky adults. -
