I’m in contact with a friend from #Minneapolis. I’m posting excerpts from one of her latest messages (with her permission). when this is all over, it will not be as before. People will be deeply traumatized, but those who fight back will hopefully also feel empowered.
“When people and families get taken, I'm often on the scene to see or I get there right after and have to help whoever is left behind to connect with attorneys, find emergency funding to pay bills, get kids to school, etc. “ 1/4

“Businesses are closing because they are afraid to open because their employees are vulnerable. We're organized to help them get through their closure, with donations for lost profits, and help for the employees to survive without working. We have patrols at every school and every bus stop in town who are connected on live calls to alert each other to anything suspicious and just watch that kids get to school safely.” 2/4

There is resistance, in many ways: “We have people delivering basic needs and groceries to people who haven't been able to leave the house in several weeks. We have groups who are using their crafts to resist; people with 3D printers who are printing alert whistles, printing "know your rights" cards, or knitting hats for foot patrollers.“ And direct action: „ We have a new group that goes to hotels at night that ICE is staying at and makes noise so they can't sleep.“ 3/4
