What's breaking my heart is the reasons why you're still pretty sure the liberal "democratic" order and their way of doing things is gonna pull this out of the fire. The reasons why it is not time to break glass in case of emergency. Those? Are heartbreaking.
You not being good at what you'll need to be good at before this is all over, is pretty much how everyone in history like you started out

There will not be elections Trump and the Nazi party can lose; not in a year, not in 3 years. The Gestapo will shoot people in the street; what happened to Good was not an accident.
Whatever your calculus on what you should or shouldn't do is from there, you will get the wrong answer if you don't accept those two very obvious facts.
I ain't for pretend. It's a very unhealthy way to live.
