Thankfully, I know some people who have plenty of balls and backbone.
    Maybe Rammstein can help. 😉

@mina I guess Germany can't ... also in the Netherlands we have some U.S. bases (with nukes stored), but in fact that's U.S. territory and as dutch we don't have any authority on those spots. I guess it's some legacy from WW2.

      (correct me, if i'm wrong)

It's not that simple: Bases are not part of the USA. The "hosting" country cedes the right to execute law within these bases.

Their status is based on treaties (i.e. contracts) which can be revoked.

Actually, contrary to common belief, this also applies to embassies: Within an embassy, the law of the host country still applies. It's just not enforced.

I think it would be fairly easy to force Ramstein Air Base to close.

          - Cut off electricity and water.
          - Block the 6000 German employees in the Kaiserslautern area from entering US bases.
          - Block the roads.

The 16k US folks at Ramstein could hold out for a while on canned food and power from generators.

          But I doubt it's sustainable.

@billiglarper @mina while it would certainly get attention, a ground based 'siege' of an active air base isn't likely to be particularly effective unless you're also willing and able to stop air traffic in and out...

Which would also be an option. There's little the US could do against that.*

But I'm not sure supplying fuel by air is feasable. What's the closest airport out of Europe the US could use for their supply flights?

*This is a a very open view of Ramstain airbase from Kirchberg hill in Landstuhl. I don't think the base was ever intended to be held against Germany.

I don't think its something either side is looking forward to.

But if the US attacks Greenland, blockading the US bases until the US evacuates their 84k service members in Europe seems likely.

And this would still be a mild outcome. Just think about what would happen if the host countries considered the base personel as enemy combatants and took them prisoner.

We should seriously study how to contain the dozens of US military installations in our country.

Before talking in public about closing any of them.

There is a power asymmetry in communication, so that those with the biggest megaphone shout the loudest. Money talks, and the truth the powerful elite want the masses to believe, becomes the political truth. It's very easy for Stalin to find the crimes of any political opponents, dissidents, subversives, troublemakers etc. and smear them. How easy is it for someone to shout their truth against Trump? Don't let your personal ethical yuck get in the way of the greater good.

I saw a post somewhere, which basically says the same but as a warning.

If Drumpf decides to attack Greenland, NATO isn't over it will just be NATO minus the US.
The US will loose al its bases in Europe, and likely in the Asia Pacific.
Refueling bombers/fighter planes on their way to let's say Iran will no longer be possible.
Canada, Europe and Japan together hold a LOT of American bonds. It will cost us quite a bit, but if we pull the rug, the US economy is toast.
                                    He won't risk it.

All this assuming, he's kind of a rational being, after all.

Well, he obviously isn't, but in light of today's announcement, even Republicans are starting to stir.
People realize he's about to throw away the USA's reputation, economy and more.
I sincerely hope this will be his demise 🤞🏻🖕🏻
