          @Tutanota I signed up. Tried to send one test email to another account and it failed saying: “Your account can not be used any more because the Tuta terms and conditions were violated, e.g. by sending spam emails.”
          Thanks but no thanks!

                @Tutanota@mastodon.social THE arguments:
                - e2ee
                - eu-based
                - no ai slop
                - no ads
                - open source
                that is enough. 1gb inbox size is IMHO also enough

                  @Tutanota

                  Delta chat uses E-Mail as a protocol. So this comparison would make less sense. Especially because some factora especially inbox-size depends on the relay you use.
                  In addition Deltachat is not meant to send emails to other providers (it is doable, but not by default).

                  I like the idea of Deltachat as a messenger.

                    Similarities are that both are solutions that try merging email and end to end encryption, but that's it. To be fair, I used both for a while and I don't like any.

                    I don't know why both try using email in the first place: if both require significant changes to the email protocol (like requiring relays or custom clients without offering bridges — does Tuta have an OSS client? I remember having to reverse engineer it back when I used it just to get email notifications without having to install an app) why bother to say it uses email? Say it's compatible with email or that it's federated (like email and Mastodon are).

                      @dexternemrod @Tutanota It reminds me of NSA's Speck cipher: no one wants to use it, many people think that NSA pushed it knowing there are weaknesses in it. So, those two are like if one took the suspicious looking Speck and instead of thinking "let's avoid it" they said "it looks bad, but let's fix it anyway". Sure, maybe you can fix, but how about making a new protocol that's secure from the beginning instead of fixing something that's known to be weak? If someone said "my crypto app uses NSA's Speck, but don't worry, I made SnailRock and WolfJazz protocols that fix all security issues on it", do you think they would be taken seriously?

                      Tuta at least has the excuse of being an email service, so it must be compatible with email. Delta doesn't even try being one!
