Well, we would like to know first who is pushing for that.
Names are needed.
@omar
The European Commission is pushing for that. MEPs can choose whether they allow it or not. Right now it is up for the members of the LIBE committee.

@chatcontrol How can it be that almost all members of the German parliament are opposed to it at a national level, yet Germany supports it at an EU level?
Have I got something wrong?

@chatcontrol Yeah, the totalitarians want control. Big surprise there. Until we fight THEM instead of whatever dangerous proposal they put forward we will never win. -

@chatcontrol Alt text: screenshot of web interface: The EU (still) wants to scan your private messages and photos
The "Chat Control" proposal would legalise scanning of all private digital communications, including encrypted messages and photos. This threatens fundamental privacy rights and digital security for all EU citizens.4 MEMBER STATES OPPOSING

@Sibelius @chatcontrol They only opposed mandatory Chat Control, but don't care if Big Tech is empowered to deploy this mass surveillance at their discretion (without court order, including text scanning etc.)

@KitsuneVixi @chatcontrol oh trust me when they say they did they didn't
-
@chatcontrol@mastodon.social I thought chat control got cancelled?
@KitsuneVixi @chatcontrol mandatory scanning of messsages was removed from the Chat Control 2.0 regulation (it has age verification now as well) so they're trying to perpetually extend the existing 1.0
they tried the front door and the back door, but not the windows

Btw I sent my bunch of mails to Germany and maybe I will contact the other non-german ones (depending on how my own capacities).
Anyways just keep emailing them and generally keep up the pressure, now we have to be VERY PERSISTENT if we want to save our online privacy and fundamental rights.As for the LIBE, for Germany it's Birgit Sippel (SPD or CDU) and if I'm not mistaken, also Moritz Körner (FDP but he's also part of the EU-Parlament).
