2026 is starting with a kick: A client of ours just updated their vendor selection criteria. TLDR; partners must be able to operate without involvement from US corps or infrastructure... and they must outline their dependencies to prove it.
Of course we/I comply by default and I'm happy to see the industry responding to this.

I hope to see more of this and hopefully a growing list of complying vendors on https://www.eucloud.tech/ -

@iamkonstantin If there is any bright side to Trump I hope it's the end to the overreliance on the USA whatever is going on there

@iamkonstantin that's great, Konstantin! What would this industry be? According to @bert_hubert and others, many business leaders are convinced there's no life outside the US cloud

@iamkonstantin It's a good move by the client, even if you are a big fan of the US there's no reason, eg, other countries should have their government store everything on US clouds.
But it's quite difficult if you look into this. For example, kernel.org is run by Akamai now https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/akamai-delivers-infrastructure-support-to-ensure-uninterrupted-linux-kernel-development-302412685.html and AFAICT Akamai is a US company.
If you tug on things like OpenSSL it seems they are based in Delaware. And a FOSS userland stack is a big mismash of all kinds of things from different places.

@iamkonstantin a reasonable move, isn't it?
