Please *be* explicitly political, the deafening silence about these issues with many of your fellow content creators is really irritating.

I (from Germany) share your sentiments, and here in Europe we're probably not far behind the US in the degradation of the political system.

@chrismerkel Fair enough, and that's one of the other biggest issues with Peertube at the moment. But my understanding is, for many YouTube creators anyway, Ad revenue is a pretty small fraction of their income. Obviously I can't say much on that for Alec specifically.

Also the viewership is so low, I doubt it would even make much of a difference at the moment. Obviously that could change in the future but he could always stop uploading to Peertube, or find some other monetization strategy.

@techindepth27 Creating a diverse income stream is absolutely top of mind for most creators. YouTubes algo is stunningly arbitrary and I've seen amazing creators get absolutely rinsed for not adapting content to their opaque whims.

I love the idea of peertube and would love even more to see advertising and payments tech come to the fediverse, becuse the power to decide wether to see ad-supported content, or make micropayments is better than a monolithic platform only designed for revenue generation.
