A label/PR company has been emailing me about a game of thrones inspired black metal album for about 5 months now.

I was thinking today, I skip most black metal but some strikes me. I don't know why most doesn't. I think it's lack of dynamics (as usual)

@jake4480 @HailsandAles For me, it's usually the shrieking. Even as good as I think the Blackbraid records are, I have to be in the mood...

@brian @HailsandAles oh totally yeah, the vocals, that's the other culprit. But even those can be dynamic, like on the Turpitude one. It can totally be done. And with different keys/chords and different drum patterns, a lot can be done. But no, if it's that one screech and basically all the same chord/patterns, I'm gonna get bored. It's gonna put me to sleep hahaha

@brian @HailsandAles I have a couple more black metal possibilities for next week maybe, but right now, I'm deep in the flowz with lots of mostly rap (and synthpop) today hahaha

@HailsandAles i made the mistake of writing about music for fun for a few years around 2010ish and to this very day i get over 100 PR spam messages per day. i haven’t written about music publicly in over a decade (!)
