All they care is to keep the (future) shareholders happy - they plan to IPO.

In today's doomer climate, it is important to keep in mind that we CAN make them change things, and even if it is not perfect, this is still a win.

You're right. They don't care about the users since they see them as tools . As a user who they don't care about. How can i protect myself from beinga victim of their programmes? -
That's what I said in response to another post about this. They didn't back down because of the Panopticon-like bullshit, they backed down because of public backlash
And here's' the thing: I heard people like Thiel want the entire internet to be the panopticon. That you'd need to provide ID and biometrics to even get online...
Except that would run counter to capitalism's goal to maximize profits.
Amazon, Netflix, Etsy, Redbubble, just these off the top of my head would lose MASSIVE profits. We're talking millions of people no longer able to access the internet and therefore millions of lost customers.
I don't see that happening
