@drumshaman @elaterite Coincidentally, I just finished a book that takes place around Shiprock.

I never realized that the mountain had "wings" until I took some photographers around it in a helicopter a bunch of years ago. It's an absolutely stunning formation. Here's one of the shots a client captured. https://500px.com/photo/918375/the-chronicles-of-amber-by-mike-reyfman

@mlanger Very nice photo! Volcanic dike wings, baby!

Love Tsé Bitʼaʼí. It is such a prominent landmark in the Four Corners region.

@limebar — yes! I love that show and it is fun seeing all of the Diné landmarks shown/mentioned in it. This is a sacred site for them, which they call Tsé Bitʼaʼí—"rock with wings" or "winged rock"…

@elaterite @drumshaman After reading that book (the 2nd Anne Hillerman book), I have a real urge to drive up past there again. Maybe next winter, if I'm still doing the RV thing.

I fell in love with all the Hillerman books. It helps that we have a family connection to the region.

@dougfir @elaterite @drumshaman I really loved Tony hillerman's books and have just started getting into his daughter's books. The first one did not impress me but I was encouraged to keep reading. The second one was better. I'll probably read all of them eventually.

I used to spend a lot of time in that area of Arizona and the Four Corners. It's mostly a distant memory these days.

@mlanger I prefer Tony, but Anne is good too. I think she tends to drone on a bit too much about domestic chores, however.

If you're interested, a recent podcast interview with Anne, and how she figured out how to continue the Leaphorn / Chee series, it wasn't easy, you can listen at this link:

@elaterite @dougfir @drumshaman Exactly. Domestic chores. And, "Oh, Chee didn't say that he loves me before hanging up on this 10th call of the day. Does he still love me?"🙄

This is the second book in a row where the drama with her sister goes on and on. I don't like her sister and wish she would just go away or get locked up in jail already.

I'll bookmark that link and give a listen later on. Thanks.
