Pics coming.
My 12 year old cat is very well behaved, so much so that he's allowed to be on the balcony one floor up unsupervised (we are just inside),He tolerates birds being on the railing and yelling at him when he is out on the balcony.
He really likes being on the balcony at dusk and watching the possums in the tree. I believe we have both brushtail and ringtail in our suburb. So today I've let him be out there on and off for a few hours, although now he's come back inside and is upstairs sleeping on the bed. He sleeps on the end only, not up near us when we sleep. We taught him and his late brother when they were young they could only sleep down near our feet.
I digress.

Anyway, I went to close the balcony door and checked that he was not out there, when I see this fellow under our outdoor chairs. Very sure it is a Brushtail Possum.
I went back inside and defrosted some berries. I placed them on a paper towel and slid them towards it, my arm no closer than a metre away from it, and moved it slow as not to upset it. I retreated to about 4 metres away and made sure I was not upwind of it. After a few moments it got a smell of the berries and took to the blackberry first.

@VWDasher Sorry North America, but our possums are the best.
And sorry New Zealand that our invading possums went feral.
