Dear FOSS Community ,

I’m researching Open Source funds and support programs that directly pay FOSS maintainers or contributors (not just offering mentorship), similar to the Fellowship program by @sovtechfund

I’m especially looking for programs that:
- are aimed at FOSS maintainers or contributors (not only students),
- focus on paid support and
- offer funding for at least 3 months.

@mechko @sovtechfund This has reminded me I actually sent a funding application to them several years ago. It wasn't accepted, but I remember that they were really pleasant to interact with; @danielcompton in particular!

@odrotbohm Good point! Are you aware of employers with open positions and where maintainers are free to use the majority of their working time for maintenance? I‘d like to look at systems that are actually somewhat ‘accessible’.

@mechko I am not sure about open positions but everything tangent to the JakartaEE ecosystem is funded through that model. Broadcom, ex-RedHat, Tomitribe, Payara. AFAIK, the Typo3 ecosystem is set up similarly.
