No matter whom I listen to, the feeling is the same: Our bilateral relationship is dead.
I grew up in a country filled with gratitude towards The US, because of The Normandy Landings. The US was loved.
The feeling now is anger. Our Kingdom has been threatened twice in 100 years: Hitler's occupation and Trump's attempted annexation of Greenland.
It saddens me, but I sense this will not easily be forgotten.

@thomasareed @randahl @jack_daniel When we get our countries back, or create new ones, it is essential that we push back against the inevitable drive from the guilty for a truth and reconciliation process. Anyone involved must never be allowed a role in public life again, and if they directly committed a crime, they should be prosecuted. We can free up room in our jails for them by letting out the BIPOC folks in there for victimless or nonexistent crimes.
And perhaps more importantly, we must hire the best forensic accountants to track the looted funds and profiteering back to the Five Hundred Families, and make an example of any of the ultra-wealthy who directly benefited. Those families should have all their wealth confiscated to help rebuild our societies after the coming economic crash. Ideally we would get all of the Five Hundred at the same time, but that may be impossible. I’ll settle for putting the fear of the Public back into the rest of them. -

This is also true internally. The structure and institutions are so damaged now that no one I know would believe anything coming from the CDC or DOJ. The self-poisoning has been so fast and thorough the old USA is not coming back in my lifetime. I fear the best we can hope for is balkanization.

@randahl Canada has gone through a similar transformation. It started with talks of annexation and 51st state rhetoric a year ago.
Now their politicians are actively calling for the province of Alberta to break off and join the US.

Maybe it's worth mentioning that in year 2014 the same happened in Ukraine regarding the Russia, and very importantly, by 2022 the Russian leadership still hadn't grasped what had changed. That's why the Russia is now in a neverending quagmire. And they still, in 2026, use strategies oblivious to this effect on how _everyone_ in Ukraine sees them.
Extrapolating from that: US leadership might be similarly oblivious to this for over a decade and more, in 2038.

@randahl I think it is a lot for Americans to process, especially the significant majority of them who are not engaged in global affairs. Canadians very much relate to and sympathise with what Denmark is going through right now. The feelings of betrayal and anger and frustration and loss of trust are with respect to the USA are PROFOUND.
I don't think many Americans, regardless of their political leanings, really do understand gow we, and increasingly the rest of the world, perceive their country.
NOT THE PEOPLE...but their country. We mostly feel sorry for the people of the USA.
But they MUST know this: clobbering the GOP in the midterms will not make it better. Electing a new president will not make it better. Y'all elected a FASCIST regime that is rapidly descending into totalitarianism.
Carney is right. This world order is over, and it will take decades for relations with the USA to find a new normal and it will NEVER be the old normal again. Voting won't be enough to fix this it's only a start.

The feelings are very valid but I hope you understand that destruction of order is the goal; world order, government, and law and order. Tear it all down, remove regulations and take whatever they want. A civil war in the U.S. and a World war abroad is the goal because they benefit from destabilization. Protect yourself and others, look for new ways to build and strengthen alliances, but be careful you're not helping them meet their goal by walking into the trap they set for you. -

What should be understood by everyone is that the current regime that has these goals is not the problem the US has, it is a symptom of the problems it has had for generations now.
The symptom needs treatment ASAP but without seriously examining the many problems that led to this current state of affairs things won't be made right.

Absolutely. This isn't a new playbook, and it's shameful we have allowed it to happen so many times to so many countries. This is also why we should be aware much of it relies on destabilization, and pushing people within a country to carry out the bulk of the work for them.
They pressure and push people in the direction they want them to go. To win we have to strategize ways that avoid achieving their goals, and rebel by opposing what they are leading us to do.

@randahl I straight up wish that the US would balkanize. My region has way more in common culturally and politically with Eastern Canada than with the South or Midwest. I dont want to have anything to do anymore with the fools that support these bastards.
